This term refers to a simple grouping of two types of personality. Type A and Type B. Type A people are often perfectionists and highly motivated or anxious to get things just right whereas Type B people are much more laid back and not easily stressed.
The point about identifying the A Type pattern is that it can become extreme leading to high levels of stress. The good news is that many of these patterns of behaviour can be modified leading to more realistic objectives and reactions to life in general.
This is well worth doing. My experience over many years of running stress management groups is that over 90 percent of people attending those groups are A Types. Altering these patterns can literally be lifesaving as these patterns of stress can place great strain on the physical system.
