Reduce caffeine

In terms of stress, the fight/flight response if the villain of the piece. It is a physical response designed to remove us from danger but is often triggered when no danger exists. When triggered over and over again this response will lead to the build up of stress patterns that we see all too regularly with panic attacks, insomnia etc.

So our aim in controlling stress is to control fight/flight episodes. Caffeine in the form of tea, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, cola drinks etc triggers a fight/flight response. Many will have experienced the 'buzz' of the first cup of strong coffee -i..e. the adrenal system has been stimulated and all of the senses wake up and go onto alert.

However, if you add the caffeine stress to a person with an already stressed lifestyle then the problems can accelerate. A cup of coffee is three times more stimulant than tea. Drink de-caffeineated tea or coffee. Gradually replace with herbal teas or coffee substitutes. Even more preferable is to drink more water.
