Attitude

People who experience stress 'burn out' and suddenly find that they cannot cope with work and tasks that were previously quite straightforward very often form an opinion of themselves as people who are somehow not as good or as effective as others.

This will often lead to poor self esteem and extreme lack of confidence making recovery from stress all the slower. However, it is vital to realise and remember that it is estimated 80-90 percent of all illness is stress related.

It is easier to mask the physical symptoms of stress with medication and assume that the person is "all right". This is not always the case. High blood pressure, stomach ulcers, insomnia are all symptoms of stress but are not disabling as in the case of someone experiencing 'burn out'.

So, change the attitude. Almost all people experience stress. Having it brought to our attention by a 'burn out' response before something goes fatally wrong may well be the most valuable thing that has ever happened to you.
