Panic Attacks

One of the commonest of all the stress patterns and, probably for many, one of the most alarming. Also the more fear associated with the event the greater the panic reaction becomes. Yet when time is spent informing people of what is actually happening to them physically a lot of the anxiety is reduced and very often the panic attacks will subside rapidly.

The panic attack is basically an extreme fight/flight response - a natural event but happening at the wrong time. The system is on red alert and wants to run away. The analysing part of the brain sees no danger and doesn't understand what these physical messages are about and feels trapped within them.

To stop the panic attack, breathe into a paper bag to rebalance the body's carbon dioxide levels. This will very effectively deal with the symptoms. Various triggers will have promoted this reaction such as over breathing, continual demands, emotional problems etc. Take a look at what is going on in your life and make some changes.
